City of Washington Drum Corps Wins First Annual Winter Steam Drum Corps Salute Contest!
Up against the L.A. Scots and current world pipe band and drum corps champion Simon Fraiser University, the City of Washington Drum Corps won the first ever Winter Steam Drum Salute Contest at Winter Storm 2009 in Kansas City, KS. Led by Drum Sergeant Jon Quigg, the six-man line presented a salute combining some of Jon’s classic material from over the years. The contest was based on audience response, and the crowd of hundreds was ecstatic over the roaring sound of CoW’s ‘old-school’ plastic-headed snares and the beating of their colonial bass drum. Congrats boys! It was a blast!!
